The co-founders of Chicago Comb, John and Tedd, have been friends since the 7th grade. Growing up in the 1980s, they were keenly aware of how the closure of factories and the decline of manufacturing was affecting Chicago and the rest of the country. Over the years, in between other things, they would talk periodically about how great it would be to reverse that trend by bringing back great local manufacturing.
In early 2010, the idea by lifelong friends John and Tedd for a beautiful, high-end men’s hair comb came to life and thus Chicago Comb Co. was born. Indeed, metal combs, like a lot of other products, had disappeared from the market decades ago. Inspired by what they saw, they decided then to make the most amazing hair combs possible.
From those early beginnings, they expanded their line up to include the only combs in the world made of pure American titanium, the only American made carbon fiber combs, and leather sheaths (cases for combs) from premium Horween leather, made at Chicago's famous Horween tannery since 1905.
